Farmers Supporting Farmers

In our little community, we have a long-standing farm-based business that has served the Indiana area with fresh produce and farm-fresh items for 45 years. Recently, Yarnick's farm began carrying our soaps and moisturizers in their farm gift shop. What a wonderful partnership this is for us. We are thrilled to be part of their beautiful farm market. 

Although my family has purchased produce from Yarnick's for as long as I can remember, I never had the pleasure of meeting the founder, Dan Yarnick. We have the pleasure of knowing Joey, Dan's son, through the Ligonier Country Market, but we have never met the patriarch. Well, let me tell you, I met Dan when we delivered our first order of soap to the store, and he is absolutely delightful! He has a kind and generous spirit that shines through all he does. 

Dan knew my dad well, and we spent the better part of an hour reminiscing about my dad and his brothers. Dan then gave us a tour of his greenhouses. Dear reader, I had no idea such innovative practices were occurring in our little community. They are truly cutting-edge but rooted in historical practices. I was genuinely impressed. Dan has a spring house exclusively of pole beans. He has runners strung from floor to ceiling that stretch the entirety of the greenhouse. Rather than using artificial methods to propagate and fertilize the bean blossoms, he uses bee hives. It was almost magical to be in the greenhouse with all the gorgeous plants and bees busily buzzing from plant to plant. Everything is absolute perfection. There is not a thing out of place and just as tidy as a pin. I'm sure you can tell from my writing how impressed I am with the entire operation. 

However, it does not end with beans. Dan has a cutting-edge system in place for his tomatoes and sweet corn as well. There is no going to the produce auction to fill the store. The Yarnicks work hard to provide freshly grown produce right from their farm. Meeting them and seeing their operation was wonderful and educational.
