Foodie Friday: Blueberry Lip Scrub

Foodie Friday: Blueberry Lip Scrub

As you well know, dear reader, I like to mix it up with recipes. Today, I would like to share an easy, at-home skincare recipe that you can create in your own kitchen. After my tumultuous trip down the river, getting sunburnt, getting sun poisoning on my foot, suffering dry, peeling skin, and dry, cracked lips, I decided I needed a lip scrub to remove the chapped, dry skin. I could have just mixed up some sugar, almond oil, coconut oil, and Vitamin E and called it a day, but it's blueberry season, and apparently, I like to complicate things. (Says one bib overall-wearing oversimplifier...insert an eye roll and a raspberry for good measure).

The lip scrub worked great. It softened my lips, removed the dead, dry skin, and helped soothe my sore lips. The blueberries added a boost of antioxidants and tasted great to boot. I recommend this easy at-home skincare addition if you suffer from dry, chapped, or cracked lips. This is a one-time-use recipe. It does not keep well or for long. I recommend only keeping it in the refrigerator for a day or two. If you do not add the berries, you could get a week or so out of it. But why would you not add the berries? I know, it's pure silliness.

Blueberry Lip Scrub

-2 Tbls. Granulated Sugar

-1 Tbls. Coconut Oil; Softened

1-tsp. Honey

3-4 Fresh Blueberries; Mashed

1 Capsule Vitamin E Contents

1 tsp. Almond Oil

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl; use to scrub lips before bed, after brushing your teeth, or before your shower. Use a washcloth and warm water to remove. Enjoy soft, supple lips.

On this lovely July Friday, stay safe, be smart, take care of your lips the natural way, and keep washing your hands.
