Foodie Friday: Sore Throat Tea

Foodie Friday: Sore Throat Tea

This time of year lends itself to colds, flu, COVID, and all kinds of other yuckies. I have been out and about more than usual, so of course, I have picked up a bug. My throat is scratchy, my ears hurt, and I just have that I-could-be-getting-sick feeling. I firmly believe that tea fixes everything. When I don't feel 100% I turn to tea instead of coffee. Herbal tea, black tea, green tea, I have a solid stash of them all.

When I feel a bit of a cold coming on, I make Sore Throat Tea. There is no real recipe to it, dear reader. I make a strong cup of black tea, and mix a 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric into two tablespoons of honey. I add this to my tea and drink it as hot as I can stand.

The honey soothes my sore throat, the spices warm my body, and it makes me feel a bit better and comforted. If you feel the sniffles coming on, I gently encourage you to try this tea. If nothing else, it is comforting.

On this grey and stormy Friday, stay safe, be smart, try gentle home remedies, and for the love of all that's holy, wash your hands. There are germs about.
