It's Lilac Season!

It's officially spring on the farm when the lilac bush blooms and my chickens begin laying eggs. There are several official signs of spring, to be honest. The Canadian geese and domestic geese have hatched little ones. The chickens are close to hatching several clutches of eggs. The baby goats are arriving weekly. The trees are beginning to green, the fields are green, and the bees are buzzing. It's a lovely time of year. 

It is also spring in the soap studio. Honeysuckle, Lilac, and Violet soaps and moisturizers are made. I am pleased to share that our Lilac soap and moisturizer are now available on the website. This is a soap family favorite, and I am happy to bring it back each year. We only created one batch, so our inventory is limited. When it's gone, it's gone. It is up in the air if it will return next year due to our beloved and bespoke little fragrance company's situation. Send out good thoughts that all will be well for this lovely, small family business. 

Lilac epitomizes spring. The fresh floral scent wafting across the farm is lovely. Although it doesn't last nearly long enough, we relish it when the big lilac bush by the barn blooms. This lilac bush was a gift to my mom on Mother's Day, probably twenty-five years ago. I bought it at a lovely little nursery in Brookville, PA. I wonder if it's still in business? My life in Brookville and teaching seem like a lifetime ago now. However, I was pleasantly surprised that one of my former students from Brookville drove from Clarion to attend our event. Jill, it was amazing to see you. Seeing you all grown up, with a beautiful family and a successful career that makes you happy and makes a difference, is all a former teacher could want for her beloved students. Thank you for coming and for remembering me. Well, that took an unexpected turn...talk about stream of consciousness writing!
