It's hard to believe, dear reader, but this weekend is our July farmer's market here on the farm. Going to a farmer's market is so different than going on a regular grocery store run. Yes, there is something to be said for convenience; I get that. However, going to a farmer's market is an experience that the entire family can enjoy. There is nothing that compares to morning fresh country air, feeling the sunshine on your shoulders, and taking the time to meet and have a conversation with those who grow and process your food. It's an opportunity to slow down, take a deep breath, relax, and meander at your own pace. Sure, you can do a quick trip and rush in and out. However, we encourage you to slow down, grab a coffee and a fresh donut, talk with those around you, meet the people who are passionate about the land and their art, and share their talent. I invite you to walk my walking path along the fields. Now that the corn and sunflowers are up, it's a lovely walk.
We are so blessed to have so many opportunities to shop small, fresh, and local in our area. You could make an entire day or morning of attending the Indiana Farmers Market, our farmer's market, going to Lone Oak Farm, Yarnick's Farm, and Aunt Julia's donuts. All are located within a twenty-five-mile radius of us. Plus, there are small farm stands along the way. I encourage you to travel the back roads, explore the covered bridges, shop the local shops, eat at local eateries, and slow down and attend our farmer's market on our farm.
One of my favorite things is to open our farm up to my soap family. I love seeing the excitement of people enjoying our farm, seeing our goats, my geese, and my chickens...mostly, it's the goats. I also love to hear from my vendor friends that they enjoyed their day, met wonderful people, had record sales, and made new connections. It's all reasons to smile, for sure.
Below is our vendor list for the month. I gently encourage you to come out, meet the makers, and enjoy the morning on our farm. You won't find better company, as The Bibbed Wonder likes to say. On this lovely summer's day, leading into a lovely summer's weekend, stay safe, be smart, join us on our farm on Saturday from 10 until 2, and keep washing your hands.
