The Big Week

Happy Monday, dear reader. With the Shaker Woods Festival behind us, we can now fully concentrate on our mazes. This upcoming weekend is the grand opening of our sunflower maze. The props are in place; we are tweaking the photo ops, and everything looks lovely. Thursday will be our soft opening, Friday night will be our first flashlight maze, and Saturday is the grand opening with our farmer's market, food trucks, daytime maze, and flashlight maze. 

It's going to be a busy but exciting week around here. You will see lots of photos and videos of the maze prepping on our social media platforms. The Bean has a drone that gets really cool footage from a very high vantage point. I'm excited to see what she comes up with for the posts. There is never a dull moment around here between her and The Bibbed Wonder. 

I've made eight-foot-tall "fancy" scarecrows that we have dubbed the Sunflower Empress and the Bee Queen. They are quite lovely, if I do say so myself. We've painted cute photo ops, created themed rooms that tell a story, and incorporated a scavenger hunt to make things interesting. 

For the nighttime flashlight maze, we have things lit up beautifully for a completely different experience. I think I am most excited for the flashlight maze. I can't wait to see the maze all lit up and aglow with people wearing glow sticks and carrying flashlights. I hope people like it and think it's cool. My idea of cool isn't always, well, cool. I guess we shall see. 

I am most excited for this Saturday. Saturday is going to be a busy one, but it will be fun. We have our farmers market from 10-2, our maze opens at 11, and our flashlight maze is on Saturday night. I believe we will have only two weeks of peak bloom, and then the flowers will begin to fade. So, I anticipate the next two weeks to be very busy. I hope you can come out sometime in the next two weeks to see what we have been up to. 

We will have exclusive Sunflower soap and moisturizer at our stand, which will be set up during the maze. I think it smells amazing, and the sight of it makes me smile. Fun things are happening here at the farm.
