Time, Why Do You Punish Me?

Remember the Hootie and the Blowfish tune, Time? I certainly feel like time is punishing me this week. Sheesh, I hate this spring forward thing. Although I am not the biggest fan of the Amish, mostly because of how they treat their animals, they do have it figured out with not respecting the time change. Canada changed its clocks this weekend, but this is the last time it will observe the time change. If Canada can make the change, Americans can too. I'm certainly not complaining about more daylight. It's just that losing an hour of sleep is so difficult.
I just saw on the news that fatal car accidents increase by 6% the week after we spring forward. Heart attacks and cardiovascular emergencies also increase the week following the time change. I firmly believe we should do away with daylight saving time and leave the clocks alone.
I missed church on Sunday because I didn't change my clock and slept in. My automated chicken door has to be reset with the time change. Poor Bob Dylan got locked out of the coop because the door closed before it was dark. It's a good thing I am an attentive chicken farmer and saw her nestled against the chicken coop door. Now, I'm going to have to sit in the mud and reprogram my chicken door timer to adjust to the time change. I'm not looking forward to that at all. The goats don't understand why Eric is an hour earlier. They certainly don't appreciate being awakened from their slumber an hour early. However, they are loving this above-average warm weather and the longer days.
No, this time change thing is painful and becomes more painful the older I get. Set the clocks, leave the time alone, and let us all stay well-adjusted. Come on, America, if Canada can get it figured out, surely you can too.
On this warm, lovely day, stay safe, be smart, stay alert, get some zzz's, and keep washing your hands.
