Tuesday Spotlight: Pear

Today's spotlight shines on our fruity favorite, Sweet Anjou Pear. Sweet Anjou Pear is a staple of our offerings and one of my favorite fruity scents. We have one lone pear tree on the farm. It stands alone in the hay field overlooking the farm like a sentinel. My dad and his brothers had so many stories surrounding this tree. I can only guess at its age, but it was a mature tree when my dad was a boy. My best guesstimation is that it is near one hundred years old. The lovely old girl is showing her age. We are bringing in an arborist this spring to take a look at her and give her a proper trimming. My bib overall-wearing buddy is too fearful of trimming her on his own in case he accidentally kills her. I know she won't last forever, but losing her will be like losing yet another piece of my dad and his history. I fully anticipate that I will mourn her loss.
