Tuesday Spotlight: Pear

This week, our spotlight is shining upon our Pear soap and moisturizer. I realize that most of my scent creations are inspired by our life on the farm. Pear was created to pay homage to the old pear tree that stands alone in the middle of the field. If you attend our farm markets or events, you will see it standing stoically and lonely just above the event field. I love this tree.  In the spring, the blossoms attract the honey bees. In summer, it protects the songbirds and offers security. In the fall, it feeds the wildlife. In winter, it looks stark against the winter sky, reminding me that there is a history here. The tree is old. It was here, producing fruit, when my dad was a boy. That would be sixty years ago now. The tree must be at least seventy-five years old, perhaps closer to one-hundred. Every year, it produces a windfall of rock-hard pears that are best eaten after being stored in a cool, dark place, wrapped in newspaper or sawdust, for several months.
