Visit The Farm

Visit The Farm

Well, dear reader, ready or not, Springtime at the Farm is on Saturday. At 10:00, we will open our farm to you to shop with my talented vendor friends, visit our goats from a safe distance, and enjoy what looks to be a chilly but dry spring day. You can see for yourself where all the stories originate, and the magic happens. We hope you can join us. We have a lovely line-up of vendors who are true artisans. You will not find any relabeled products or third-party vendors. Everyone here makes their products by hand with care, purpose, and integrity. I know I am biased, but I believe my friends to be "top tier" in quality and integrity. Bonus, they are all great people.

Come with an appetite because my favorite food truck, Little Garden Kitchen, will be here. Stephanie makes a homemade Big Mac dog that my bib overall-wearing buddy has been talking about for two weeks. It's a burger stuffed into a casing with all the Big Mac fixings. I'm sure Stephanie has taken a fast food classic and made it next level. This lady is talented in the kitchen. Kenna's Creations will be here with my favorite Acai bowls. Kenna is one impressive young lady. I love her story, and she is pure delight. New to the farm is Sutton's Sweet Treats. I am a girl who loves ice cream! I have a small ramekin of ice cream almost every night before bed. I'm excited to welcome an ice cream truck to our event. My friends from Lone Oak will be here with their baked goods. Be sure to get a pepperoni roll and a cinnamon roll. Star Crossed Naturals will be here with microgreens, baked goods made from hand-milled grains, and everything that feels sinful but is good for you. Aunt Julia will be here with the best donuts in the world...yep, I made that claim! If you leave hungry, it's all on you...wink.

There are also quite a few talented food vendors joining us. Pretzels with a Twist, Missy LaLa's Biscotti, and Mrs. Nut Roll will be here with all their amazing creations. I can't get enough of biscotti; the snickerdoodle pretzels are incredible; and Mrs. Nut Roll's nut rolls are great to keep on hand in the freezer for unexpected company or outings. Also, Broken Locust will have their teas, spices, and dip blends. Sherry blends the most amazing teas. If you have canine bestie's, my dear friend, Tricia, will be here with her gourmet dog treats. Buster only eats "Aunt Tricia's" treats. Yes, he's a bit of a treat snob, but her treats are the best and so good for your furry loved ones. Stock up on all.

There will be mushrooms, wool products, hand-woven shawls, handmade jewelry, hand-forged metal work, flowers, and so much more. Of course, there will be handmade goat's milk soap as well. We will share our unreleased spring scents with you, and you will get to meet the "girls" who make the milk and the magic. Eric was going to create a treat stand so you could give the girls treats through the fence, but he couldn't find treats that wouldn't cause bloat. It's a great idea, but just not feasible. Keeping the girls safe and healthy is of the utmost importance.

A few things to keep in mind if you are attending the farm event. I know we all love our animals. I feel this is something that bonds us and creates a connection. However, my critters carry germs that your critters may not be exposed to, and vice versa. Please leave your dogs and other animal friends at home. We don't want to contaminate each other's fur family. Buster was recently diagnosed with heart failure, and if my boy were to get sick from exposure to someone else's dog, I would be destroyed.

Also, I love Jesus as much as anyone, but my farm festival is not the place to recruit members to your church, push your ideas onto others, or make anyone feel uncomfortable. If you show up, handing out literature for religious or political groups, I will kindly ask you to leave; The Bibbed Wonder will not be so kind. It's a friendly family festival. Let's not turn it into something it was never intended to be. My dad taught me that there are three things you don't talk about with friends or at the dinner table: money, religion, or politics. Be polite and follow the rules.

Lastly, please, please, please come up to me and introduce yourself. I love being able to put a face to a name. I love hearing about how you found our products, love animals, had goats when you were growing up, or whatever our connection might be. If I am talking to someone, join the conversation, but don't leave without saying hello. Also, please don't be offended if I don't remember something. For real, life with me is like the movie 50 First Dates. I can remember some minor detail from twenty years ago, but can't remember where I put my wedding band (No joke. Ask The Bibbed Wonder).

Let's get together, enjoy each other, be kind, be good humans, celebrate talented small businesses and the spring season, enjoy good food, and make connections. I love opening my farm to you and welcoming you to the place I love more than anywhere in the world. My family could not do this without you, and this is my way of saying I appreciate you and all you do. I want everyone to be happy and get along, and for my friends to be friends. I know, super sappy, but it's true.

I hope you can join us on Saturday from 10 until 2 at 493 Tonkin Road, Indiana, PA 15701. We greatly look forward to seeing you. On this springtime Thursday, stay safe, be smart, come out and enjoy the farm, and keep washing your hands.
