Yoga In The Sunflowers
Share
As the sunflowers begin to bloom, we are looking at approximately two weeks of bloom time before they begin to lower their heavy heads for the season. I have planned four events for people to enjoy directly in the sunflowers. With such a small window to work within, I am scheduling gatherings during the week to avoid interrupting the maze viewing. This week's posts will be dedicated to our upcoming events, what has gone into preparing for them, what they offer, and the value of the experience.
I will begin with our first upcoming experience, Breathe. Bloom. Be. Yoga In The Sunflowers. I am planning two yoga events in the sunflowers. The first is on Sunday, August 23 from 8 AM to 10 AM. The second is planned for Monday, August 31 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Both events will offer the same experience. Sign-in will begin 45 minutes before the class in case anyone wants to take photos, grab a fresh acai bowl, or a refreshing drink from Kenna's Korner food truck. Each event-goer will be gifted a swag bag filled with goodies, including an event t-shirt, an exclusive sunflower goat's milk soap and moisturizer, snacks from local food artisans, and a bottle of refreshing water to stay hydrated. The ticket includes access to a 45-minute yoga class, a 15-20-minute sound bath, and private access to the sunflower maze and all the styled elements within it. Only you and your fellow event goers will have access to the maze. It's a great way to spend quiet time in nature, enjoy the beautiful sunflowers in a calm setting, and reset for your upcoming week. The event value is approximately $125, but ticket pricing is set at $65.
Sunflower Yoga Studio is offering the yoga instruction and the sound bath. Jill and her colleagues come with years of yoga experience, enthusiasm, and expertise. I encourage you to come out to the farm for a morning yoga class to end your weekend, or for a Monday evening class to reset your workweek.
Like me, some of you may wonder what a sound bath is and what the benefits are. A sound bath is a deeply immersive, meditative experience in which participants "bathe" in sound waves and vibrations produced by instruments such as crystal or Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, and chimes. Key benefits include deep physical relaxation, reduced stress and anxiety, and improved sleep.
How is a sound bath done? You lie down comfortably on a mat while a practitioner plays resonant instruments without a standard melody or rhythm. Sound frequencies gently shift your brainwaves from an active waking state (beta) to slower, relaxed states (alpha or theta). (Cleveland Clinic)
We have put a lot of time and effort into planning the events to create an elevated experience. I want you to feel pampered, cared about, and appreciated. This is a reflection of how I feel about you, and I really want you to enjoy our farm and what I hope is a unique experience.
I am not an athlete, but I do enjoy yoga. Stretching, moving, and balancing help me feel better on days when I don't feel my best. The classes are beginner-friendly but are also for those who are more experienced. Come out to the fields with your mat, stand barefoot in the sunshine, be like a sunflower, lift your face to the sun, enjoy the peaceful setting, and have a beautiful experience in nature in the sunflowers. I'm sure you will get to experience the surrounding wildlife. The deer have definitely discovered the sunflower fields. My favorite part is the birdsong in the sunflowers. You will be enveloped by sunflowers for a calm, unique, nature-friendly experience.
I encourage you to grab your friends, family, significant other, or come alone to enjoy a unique experience in our new sunflower field. When the class is over, you have private access to the maze and all the unique stylized rooms. Meander along looking for each room, which includes a butterfly-themed room, a Van Gogh Room, a secret garden, and a room of quiet contemplation. Find our glamorous scarecrows: The Bee Queen and The Sunflower Goddess. Look for the hidden vignettes throughout. See yourself in the sunflowers, unplug from the world for a while, enjoy nature, and practice yoga among them.
You can find tickets on Eventbrite.
On this warm, overcast Wednesday, stay safe, be smart, come out and join us for Yoga In The Sunflowers, and keep washing your hands.
