Tuesday Spotlight: Orange, Clove, Cinnamon

It is hard to believe it is September 1st. What a year we have had thus far and I have a feeling it isn’t over yet. However, we do what we always do, look for the good, try to remain positive, and keep moving forward. With the arrival of September and Labor Day being the unofficial end of summer, what a wonderful time to spotlight a soap I consider warm and the equivalent of comfort food in soap…Orange, Clove, Cinnamon.

Orange, Clove, Cinnamon reminds me of the pomanders my sister used to make when we were kids. She would diligently stick whole cloves into an orange, tie it with a ribbon, and hang it on the Christmas tree. I thought it smelled wonderful and to this day, it is one of my very favorite scents. In the shower, it is warm, spicy, and comforting. It brings feelings of nostalgia and comfort while being surprisingly refreshing.

Let us discuss the benefits of Orange, Clove, Cinnamon for the skin. Of course, a soap for The Smiling Goat Soap Co. can’t just smell good. It has to offer beneficial properties for one’s skin as well. Orange oil, although a challenge to get to withstand the high temperatures of the saponification process, hold up rather well when blended with the strong scented oils of clove and cinnamon. Sweet orange oil has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic properties. It also gives your skin an added boost of vitamin C, which is great for anti-aging. It is believed that clove oil helps to tighten skin. Clove oil is commonly used in cosmetics to help fight fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps in removing dead skin cells and is believed to aid in circulation creating a more youthful, radiant complexion. Cinnamon bark essential oil is believed to aid with dry skin, help circulation, and improve overall skin appearance. Not only does this soap have a warm comforting scent, it is packed with skin supporting nutrients.

Orange, Clove, Cinnamon is a wonderful soap to move from the hot, sun filled days of summer to the cooler temperatures and shorter days of fall. It is a lovely unisex scent but makes a wonderful gift for men or women. What a lovely transition into all things pumpkin spice and flannel. As always, the Tuesday Spotlight will be offered at 50% off on the website this week. It will also be on sale at the Murrysville and Ligonier markets.

As always dear reader, stay safe, stay smart, and keep washing your hands, perhaps with a wonderful scented soap that feeds and nourishes one’s skin.
