Tuesday Spotlight: Rose

“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” I don’t know about that, but I do know our Rose goat’s milk soap and moisturizer is the focus of the Tuesday Spotlight. Rose was one of the first five soaps I created when I began this soap endeavor. For me, it was a natural choice and it was instantly popular. Although its appearance has changed as my soap making skills have developed, the luxury ingredients and beneficial properties have stayed the same.

I of course, begin with my “go to recipe” which includes raw goat’s milk, coconut oil, olive oil, canola oil and castor oil. The combination of these oils are nutrient rich for the skin, create a nice lather, are moisturizing, and rinse cleanly. The addition of organic rose oil makes this not only a beautifully scented bar but a beneficial skin care bar. Rose oil has been proclaimed “queen of the oils” and “liquid gold” for skin care because of its anti-inflammatory properties as well as anti- aging benefits. Rose oil is beneficial for all skin types including sensitive skin.

With that being said, rose oil is also renowned for creating balance, being uplifting, and fighting anxiety. The pure, rich scent of Bulgarian rose oil I use in my soaps and moisturizers is a truly beautiful and classic scent. It is not your grandmother’s rose but a pure, gentle rose scent. I tend to scent on the lighter side with most of my products but rose holds up well through the harsh saponification process and remains fresh, pure and not cloying. Which I feel is important because some rose scents, especially artificial rose scents, can smell too sweet, too overpowering, or even like chemicals. Again, be sure to read your ingredients and educate yourself on products.

The Rose soap is a beautiful bar with rose pink swirls, pink hearts, and of course glitter…one very wise eleven-year-old told me everything is better with glitter. This lovely bar and its coordinating moisturizer are on sale this week on the website, as well as at the Murrysville and Ligonier Markets. Also, please don’t forget that you may preorder for market pick up on the website as well. If you have been curious to try the rose bar, would like to purchase as a gift, or simply want to experience the classic, lovely scent for yourself, this week is a good week to do so.

As always, stay safe, stay smart, remember, a rose is a rose is a rose, and wash your hands…perhaps with a lovely rose scented goat’s milk soap, followed by a beautiful moisturizer.
