Tuesday Spotlight: Simply Silk

Once again, it is Tuesday and that means it is time for a new Tuesday Spotlight. Today, I am going to share with you the benefits and wonder of the Simply Silk soap. Our “Simply” line has grown and developed into a wonderful, natural unscented line of products offering those with allergies, sensitivities, or who simply want a pure unscented soap a variety of options. The Simply Silk soap is our newest addition to this line and it has become one of my personal favorites.

There are times when inspiration strikes and I insist that despite all the nay saying…mostly from my bibbed wearing buddy…we go with that idea. Adding silk to our soap is one of those ideas we are both happy to have followed through. I have read and researched adding silk fibers to soap for quite some time but had been reluctant to experiment with it because of time constraints, storage limitations, and conflicting information about the ethics of the gathering of said fibers. After sitting down and committing to finding out all I could about silk, silk fibers, and the gathering of fibers, I finally found an option I was happy with and felt good about.

We have opted to use cruelty free silk fibers. Cruelty free simply means that the cocoons the silk worms create are gathered after the worms have transformed into moths and naturally left the remnants behind. There are methods where the worms are boiled out of them and they are raised, gathered and harvested as a commodity for profit. If you know me, you know I don’t believe any living creature should be treated as a commodity. The cruelty free fibers come at a higher cost but it is a cost I am willing to absorb for the support of natural practices.

The silk fibers did not disappoint in the quality and performance it added to the soap. Just a pinch of silk fiber added to each batch adds a lovely moisturizing, dense lather to the soap. It creates a “slip” or silky feeling on the skin and it lasts for most of the day. When I use the silk soap, I forego using moisturizer. It is that moisturizing. My bean suffers from seasonal eczema. When she has a flare and she inevitably will, I intend to use the Simply Silk soap on her. With the change of the seasons, many find that they suffer from allergies and changes in skin condition. Using a good, pure, natural soap is one of the easiest and inexpensive ways to combat these discomforts.

As always, the Tuesday Spotlight is on sale for half off this week. In addition, we will also offer our Unscented Moisturizer for 50% off as well. The discounts will be offered on the website and at both the Murrysville Market and Ligonier Market. Also, a reminder that preorders for both markets are available on the website. Simply place your order, pay online, and we will have it prepacked and ready to pick up at the market of your choice. Please remember to message what market you will be picking up. One last suggestion, because Simply Silk is unscented, it is a good time to stock up on these bars with no worries of lost scent retention.

As always, stay safe, stay smart, and keep washing your hands.
