You Are A Rockstar!

Despite the chilly rainy day, Saturday was a great day. Our Fall At The Farm event was a success, and we could not be more impressed and grateful for our soap family. You all are rockstars in our book. You braved the elements and came out to support not only us but our family of handmade businesses as well. Everyone was so grateful and appreciative for the support that was shown. You all are fantastic, and we genuinely do appreciate you.

Our day began at 4:30 a.m. The Bibbed Wonder did the barn chores, and I had a list of small details to complete. Aunt Julia and her donut truck arrived around six to begin making the donuts. Julia and her group of girls are like a small army of busy ants working meticulously to get things done. Julia impresses me with her drive, ambition, business sense, and work ethic. I have grown to consider Julia and her team good friends. It still amazes me the universe has a way of bringing people together, and I am blessed to call these ladies my friend. The weather in the early morning was mild, and we were cautiously hopeful that it would remain so until after our event, but those hopes were soon dashed.

Almost all our vendor friends were here at eight o’clock, and we all stood underneath our tents watching the rain come down in sheets. I was worried, not so much for us because we are home and have to carry our goods a few feet to our garage and workshop, but I was worried that our vendor friends, most of whom drove at least an hour, would have a wasted day with wasted product. One never knows what to expect when hosting a small event, and I must admit, I felt panicked for my friends. By nine o’clock, the rain had slowed, and we saw the first car coming up the driveway.

We were thrilled to see one of our favorite families. Ed, Susan, and Claudia have been wonderful to us in so many ways, and we were grateful that they braved the elements to help support us. They were just the beginning of wonderful surprises for us on Saturday. We got to meet so many of our amazing customers in person. It is great to be able to put a face to a name and comments on social media or kind messages on our site. I was truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support that was shown for our handmade community and us.

Our day was so busy I regretfully didn’t have time to visit with our friends the way I would have liked, and I didn’t even get to make it to some of our vendor friends’ tents. That, dear reader, is a good problem to have. Our day could not have happened without you, and we are grateful to you. Although the weather didn’t cooperate, we had a fantastic day and walked on cloud nine even though we were chilled, wet, and tired. The weather forced everyone to pack up as quickly as possible, we said brief goodbyes, and that was the end.

Yesterday was spent recovering from the excitement and busyness of the previous day. We continue to walk on cloud nine, but reality has set in, and we are back to work today. We have tables of soaps to be cleaned, stamped, and racked for the holiday season. Remembering all the friendly faces, kind comments, and smiles from Saturday will make our week and hard work feel worthwhile. Thank you for that. As always, dear reader, stay safe, be smart, know you are appreciated, and keep washing your hands.
