Happy Thursday, dear reader. If you are local, have attended the Ligonier Country Market, or have been to our annual farm events, you have been introduced to my dear friend, Julia. Julia is THE Julia behind Aunt Julia's Donuts. Earlier in the year, I shared that my sweet friend realized her dream and opened her own bakery at 9160 US-422, Shelocta, PA 15774. Well, good things keep coming from my lovely, hard-working, industrious friend! I am thrilled to share that every Thursday beginning at 4:00, Julia is offering take-and-go meals from her bakery. The menu varies from week to week, but past meals have been ham balls, scalloped potatoes, green beans, a roll, a choice of pie, and a salad. Last week's meal was poor man's steak, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, a salad, and a selection of desserts. Her meals are home-cooked from scratch, the epitome of comfort food, and absolutely delicious. Seriously, my friend is a very talented cook.

The Bibbed Wonder and I agree that our new Thursday routine is going to Julia's for her take-and-go meals. This routine supports my friend's budding business, offers a delicious meal, and best of all, I don't have to cook or do dishes! All of these reasons are a win in my book. If you are local, I encourage you to try Julia's new take-and-go meal option. I believe you will be as thrilled as I am about this fantastic addition.
Julia doesn't have any social media to follow, but you can find her weekly meal option advertised in her bakery and the Indiana Gazette. We will also try to share her meal options on our social media. I am more than happy to promote and share my friend's business. I believe, dear reader, Julia is on to something great. The Bibbed Wonder and I fully anticipate that Julia will outgrow her location in no time and need to expand. I tease her and call her a boss in a bonnet. Eric has to take it a step too far and tease her about being the Mennonite Donut Mafia. She takes it all in stride with a chuckle and a smile.
If you are looking for a delicious home-cooked meal option on Thursday afternoons, keep Aunt Julia's in the forefront of your meal options. You will be supporting not only a fantastic woman-owned business but also a truly lovely person. Not to mention supporting a budding local business, that is a great addition to our community. As soon as Julia messages me, I will share this week's menu option on our Facebook and Instagram. If you want to find out even more quickly, I encourage you to go to the bakery, get the most incredible donuts in the area, and check out the menu in person. Julia never disappoints.
On this gorgeous summer day, stay safe, be smart, support local businesses run by incredibly talented individuals, enjoy amazing food, and keep washing your hands.
***Just In: Today's menu is grilled chicken, herbed potatoes, baked beans, side salad, dinner roll, and a gob for dessert
